Football Games & Monkey Pajamas

This one's short and sweet!

Last night was the first Dickinson High School football game of the season and also Tristan's first game to march at. So of course we loaded Evie up and took her to her first game.

Grinning for the camera

The band was awesome (next time I'll take video) and Tristan had a great time.

Of course it was horribly hot but Evie was a champ! After the game she refreshed with a bath and then put on her brand new 0-3 month pajamas. Yep, she's officially outgrown her newborn ones.

Aren't her monkey pajamas too cute!?

Family and Monthdays

Last week Josh had to spend a couple of days in San Francisco for work. Luckily I have wonderful parents who were able to come and spend some time with us while he was gone. Thanks Mom and Dad. I love you very much!

Pop whistling to Evie.
My Grandma spent a couple of months this summer visiting from Florida and while they were here we celebrated Grandma's 75th birthday with a crab & shrimp boil.

Happy birthday, Grandma!

My niece, Annabelle, practiced holding Evie!

After Josh got back and everyone left we had another guest come to stay with us. Josh's sister, Connie, just recently back from Afghanistan, visited with us for a few days.

Welcome home, Connie!
On another note, Evelyn turned 1 month old today. I can't believe how the past 4 weeks have flown by!

Just for comparison, here's Evie in her car seat when we were leaving the birthing center the day she was born...

And here she is a month later...

No photos, please!
Happy 1 monthday, baby girl! We love you!!

Welcome Baby Evelyn

With my first 2 pregnancies I had routine hospital births. This time around I knew I wanted something different, so we decided to use a midwife at a birthing center.

Bay Area Birth Center

I started having contractions at about 10:30 a.m. on July 24th. My mom, dad and grandma started the drive down from Nacogdoches. I still wasn't sure that I was definitely in labor but my mom has a sixth sense about these things. My contractions were somewhat regular and finally, at about 3:30, we decided to head over to the birth center and my sister, Meredith, her husband, Justin, and their sweet boy, Jackson, headed over from College Station.

Ready to go!

When we got there I was dilated to 2 cm and was 50% effaced. For the next few hours I enjoyed visiting with my entourage while continuing to have pretty regular contractions.

At about 8:30 my midwife, Jackie, checked me again and I was dilated to 5 cm. Yes, progress! This is when I was convinced that I was truly in labor.

This is what I did...

This is what everyone else did...

After I had dilated to 5 cm I decided it was time to get into the tub and things progressed rapidly from there. Evelyn Sophia was born at 1:11 am on July 25. She weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20 1/2" long.

Everyone was so excited to meet her!

Okay...... Here We Go!

My sister, Meredith, has been harassing me to start a blog about our new baby, Evelyn. Mere, I don't know if I can be a superstar blogger like you but I'm going to give it a shot.
